Declan Rice is the type of player Manchester United need, claim talkSPORT presenters Sam Matterface and Darren Gough.
Rice has been linked with a mega-money move to Old Trafford in January.
The West Ham and England star would reportedly cost the Red Devils £90million.
But Matterface reckons it is a necessary signing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
I can see him playing for Manchester United but I think for West Ham fans, I feel for them
“I think that’s what they need, I think they need someone in that position,” Matterface said.
“At the moment they’re playing [Paul] Pogba a little bit deeper because [Nemanja] Matic’s legs have gone and can’t get around the pitch as much as he did before, [Scott] McTominay’s playing alongside Pogba as a result of that.
“I think ideally, and they did this in the game against Southampton, they pushed Pogba into a No 10 position when they were chasing the game.
“But Declan Rice for £90m, is that something you could see happening for Manchester United?
“Is it the right way to sort of spend your money?”
Meanwhile, former England cricketer Gough reckons £90m is too much for Rice but he can see him fitting in at United.
“Well again it’s over the top isn’t it,” Gough replied.
“He’s comfortable to receive the ball in all areas, he played really, really deep didn’t he [against Bulgaria], he almost played like another centre-half in that second half, he was the first one to get the ball off Maguire.
“We always see Maguire run out with the ball but at the minute Rice wants to collect the ball in that position, he wants to be doing that sort of stuff.
“Yes, I can see him playing for Manchester United but I think for West Ham fans, I feel for them.
“West Ham now actually feel they are getting a side together that can compete.”
